Important Information for MTU/MTA/NEA Members |

Besides the Maintenance & Trade Union at UMass Lowell, you are also a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association www.massteacher.org, (MTA) and the National Education Association www.nea.org (NEA).
As a member of the MTA, you should HELC Within the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the union is in the Division of Higher Education. As part of that Division, your union president , John Gervais, sits on the Higher Education Leadership Council (HELC), which is made up of all the presidents of MTA higher education union locals led by Donna Johnson from the University Staff Association (clerical/technical employees at UMass Amherst). HELC works on issues of concern to higher education employees at the state colleges, community colleges, and universities. The NEA and MTA have special programs and resources for higher education members as well as ESPs—education support professionals, non-teaching education employees.
